The proposal site is located outside of the Bath-City wide conservation area and is within the World Heritage Site (WHS).
21 Somerdale Avenue (No. 21) and the majority of buildings its immediate vicinity are likely to date from the second half of the twentieth century.
It is noted that the Heritage Statement refers to a “Listed Building application” (para. 1), “Coronation Road is situated withing a Conservation Area” (para. 1.1) and an “associated…Listed Building consent application (para. 2.1).
The proposed installation of an air source heat pump to the front elevation of No. 21 will not detract from the significance of the WHS and BPT supports retrofits that are appropriate for the special qualities of the historic environment.
